Traction Forklift Battery Structure And Charging Method

In the rapidly evolving landscape of logistics and warehousing, the role of advanced equipment and technology cannot be overstated. Traction forklifts, as an integral part of this ecosystem, rely heavily on the intricacies of their battery structures and charging methods, directly impacting operational efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Traction forklift battery refers to a traction forklift that uses batteries as driving force. There is no doubt that the traction forklift battery is the basic core of the forklift. The battery is required to provide power for driving and loading. Without the battery, the forklift cannot work at all. So how is the traction forklift battery composed?

Traction forklift battery composition:

Forklift batteries, most of the forklift batteries and traction forklift batteries are „power batteries“. Power batteries are also called „traction batteries“ and their working principles are basically the same as starter batteries.

Traction forklift single battery

From the structural point of view of the traction forklift battery, the positive plate of the power battery generally uses a tubular plate, and the negative plate uses a paste-type plate. The tubular positive plate is a tube made of a row of vertical aluminum alloy cores and a jacket made of glass fiber. The tube core is on a frame made of pin alloy and is composed of filled active materials. Due to the protection of the outer glass fiber, the active material in the tube is not easy to fall off, so the service life of the tubular plate is relatively long.

The individual power batteries are combined into a battery pack of different capacities by bolting or welding. Battery forklifts and battery tractors both provide power in the form of battery packs, and the combination structure of the forklift battery is only the exterior of the battery. How to use it correctly is the key, and subsequent maintenance is the key to determining the life of the forklift battery.

As we all know, the traction forklift battery relies on 2V monomers connected in series to mix stronger current to achieve the purpose of driving the forklift.

In the past, the single battery used a tubular plate combination, and the initial charging was carried out in two stages: first, use the initial charging current to charge until the electrolyte releases bubbles and the single cell voltage rises to 2.3~2.47V, and then the current is reduced to 1 /2 initial charging current, continue charging until the electrolyte releases violent bubbles and the voltage remains unchanged for 3 hours.

Traction Forklift Battery Charging

The total charging time is about 45 to 65 hours. During the charging process, the temperature of the electrolyte should be measured frequently and the temperature should be controlled at 35 to 40 degrees by halving the current, stopping charging or cooling. When the initial charging is completed, if the specific gravity of the electrolyte is not consistent According to regulations, distilled water or electrolyte with a specific gravity of 1:4 should be used for adjustment. After adjustment, charge for another 2 hours until the specific gravity meets the requirements.

In addition, the traction forklift battery cannot be over-discharged. Overcharging or discharging will affect the life of the battery itself. New batteries often do not reach capacity after the first charge and should be discharged.

Use a 20-hour discharge rate to discharge (that is, use 1/20 of the rated capacity to discharge until the single cell voltage drops to 1.757V), and then increase the charging current to be sufficient. After one charge and discharge cycle, the capacity is still lower than 100% of the rated capacity. At ninety minutes, another charge and discharge cycle should be carried out. The forklift battery cells will be in an unbalanced state in the future, so they must be checked closely, otherwise the battery life will decrease quickly.

Generally speaking, the structure and charging method of traction forklift batteries are directly related to the operational efficiency and cost control of the logistics and warehousing industry. With the continuous advancement of technology, we believe that more advanced, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly traction forklift battery technologies will emerge in the future, providing strong support for the sustainable development of the industry.
