Take you to understand the composition of forklift batteries

The primary power system device for electric forklifts is the storage battery. Only by gaining a better understanding of the forklift storage battery can the lifespan of this susceptible component be extended, achieving the maximization of resource utilization.

1. Power Supply

When the engine starts, the ignition system is powered by the battery. Storage of traction batteries: Avoid short circuits; short circuits caused by rain may result in fires and the generation of small amounts of hydrogen. Therefore, the storage battery must be stored in a ventilated and cool place. After charging lead-acid batteries, a significant amount of hydrogen may accumulate around the battery, and any open flames are not allowed. The cover on the battery should be opened during charging. Forklift battery leasing charging processes may produce gases, so it is essential to maintain good ventilation in the charging area, free from open flames. Additionally, oxygen and acidic gases generated during the charging process will have an impact on the surroundings. When the engine starts, the generator generates electricity normally, and the electrical energy of the ignition system is provided by the generator.

2. Spark Plug

The spark plug is composed of a housing, central working electrode, side electrode, and insulator. The spark plug is installed in the combustion chamber of each cylinder, and its function is to create a spark under the action of high-voltage electricity, puncturing and creating a gap, igniting the combustible mixture in the cylinder. To ensure the sealing between the spark plug and the cylinder head, a sealing gasket should be added when the spark plug can be installed.

3. Distributor

The distributor consists of a circuit breaker, distributor, capacitor, and ignition advance angle device.

4. Ignition Coil

It consists of a low-voltage control winding (primary winding), high-voltage winding (secondary winding), housing, and an additional resistor. The ignition coil acts as a transformer without allowing direct current pulses through. It transforms low-voltage electrical material from the battery or generator into high-voltage electricity of 15-20kV. An additional resistor is externally installed on the housing of the ignition coil between the insulation „switch +“ and „switch“ terminals. The additional resistor can improve the working characteristics of the ignition system. It is made of iron-aluminum alloy wire and has the characteristic of rapidly increasing resistance value when the temperature rises and rapidly decreasing resistance value when the temperature drops.

5. Ignition Switch

Its function is to control the operation of the forklift ignition system. The ignition system is integrated with the starting switch, referred to as the ignition start switch. When the contact ignition switch is turned on, high-voltage electricity is generated as the engine drives the distributor to rotate, producing an electric spark in the cylinder. Turning off the ignition switch prevents the engine from producing sparks and extinguishes it.
